It should be important for him to have a great relationship with Allah swt to motivate him and draw him closer so that he has full knowledge on how to pray correctly, have a spiritual experience, and be able to act on his commitment to being present and prepared to be in front of God standing no matter the obstacles. I anticipate my husband to be a good role model to teach our children to love prayer and focus on the passion and quality, rather than obsessing over empty movements and routines.
